Have you ever wondered why it seems everyone gives "mouse pads" as a promo item? I think I figured out why! I don't know about you ... Yet I have gone through tons of mouse pads! They all seem to either wear out, fall apart or make the mouse "unglidable" which can be v-e-r-y frustrating and time consuming. I mean I'm not the world's fastest typist to begin with ...so I need all the help I can get to expedite the "click and glide" motions related to simple computer tasks. A leather mouse pad to the rescue! It may sound silly at first or even frivolous ...it did to me! Yet you haven't experienced a true s-m-o-o-t-h- g-l-I-d-I-n-g motion with your mouse until you have tried one of these! These mouse pads are made with a full grain, slightly polished leather. Absolutely the most ideal texture for the mouse tracking! The pad has a special shape that lets you tuck it next to your keyboard either vertically or horizontally. It measures 9 3/4" x 7 3/4" and has a non slip bottom. Your choice of colors in: red, blue, brown or black. Reasonably priced for the great quality for $25 at Levengers. Have you ever wondered why your "helpers" may detest setting the table or putting the dishes away? Or why one "helper" may opt to always prefer to wash dishes? Well, I might have a clue here for you.... You see, I've encountered some kitchen cabinets where dishes were stacked so high on a shelf, it's no wonder putting items away or taking them out is such a chore! If you are not blessed with "movable shelves' in your cabinets you may not be utilizing your full space potential or you may be making it impossible to recruit help in the kitchen! Maximizing your kitchen cabinet space is a cinch when you concentrate on utilizing all "dead space" while keeping retrieval easy. Shelf organizers can do both! First of all we have a "corner storage" shelf organizer. This little baby brings hard to reach areas "front and center" while dividing your space into functional sections. Measuring 10 1/2" x 10" x 7 3/4" the "corner storage" shelf organizer sells for approximately $8. Next we have a "double shelf" organizer. This gem will allow you to take full advantage of your cabinet space. It can accommodate most of your dishes, in an organized, divided, and minimal amount of space. Client's are always amazed at what I can put on a given shelf -- while creating an inviting, organized atmosphere! Measuring 18" x 9" x 8 1/2" this handy organizers sells for approximately $8.50. Pssst, a little "trick of the trade" here ....this versatile organizer can also double in the pantry for you for snacks and can goods! Both items can be found in Kitchen specialty shops, housewares in your better department stores ...and of course ...the Container Store! (If you haven't gotten their catalog or stopped in a store nearest you yet -- you are missing out on one of the best kept secrets in the world of organizing!)

When it comes to business journals, reference magazines, association newsletters and magazines in general -- your looking for a chaotic disaster to happen if you aren't prepared with a home for these important reading materials. It's no sense in holding onto them if you have no "system" in place to retrieve the information precisely when you need it. In the above scenarios I highly recommend utilizing a magazine organize organizer! Now that you are ready to organize your reference stash -- be careful which one you invest in. Magazine organizers come in all sizes and shapes and structural components. Sometimes you may "think" you are saving money by buying the corrugated designs -- yet they do not hold up in the long run at all. Then there is the durable plastic designs found in most major office stores. They sell anywhere from $5 a piece to $10 for a 3 pack. Practical, economical and far more durable than the cardboard design. For those more finicky about their office, you can also choose the clear acrylic designs. These are great because they blend into most environments. Have a great capacity and you can easily see the contents of each magazine organizer. They sell for approximately $25 a set at Hold Everything or Lillian Vernon. Hint: grab your P-Touch labeler and label the contents on the outside of your magazine organizer of choice. Only keep like reference materials together. Great way to store your periodicals, newsletters, reference material or special subscriptions!

OK Ladies, this one is especially for you! I am a real advocate for all women to acquire their own tool kit. Why? Well, why get frustrated with "waiting" for your mate to fix it for you -- when you are totally capable of doing it yourself -- right? OK. In my years of Professional Organizing, I've also heard from the ladies that another deterring factor is: "I wouldn't dare venture into the workshop -- it's scarier than my Tupperware cabinet!" Hmmmm, sounds like it's time to organize the garage one day soon for starters. Yet, in my humble opinion, you still need to get your hands on a simple hammer, screwdriver or wrench at times -- so why not have a small tool area of your very own?
Actually, I have purchased a couple of nifty gadgets from Brookstone for my personal use. The first one I'll mention is a 5-in-1 hammer (not shown here). It not only serves it's main function, it can cut wire, pry, turn a standard size nut or fit in a regular size screw head. Approximate price: $20 The next item is my favorite (and hubbies) it's a 36 piece screwdriver set. The one pictured even has a built-in light. It has a non-slip grip and includes an extensive assortment of bits and adapters. Comes in it's own v-e-r-y organized case and measures 9" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2". Talk about maximizing space! Approximate price: $25 And the final "must have" tool ladies is a "Multi-Wrench" set. My favorite has a nylon handle with an adjustable grip for hex, round or square jobs. Now my hands don't have the strongest grip, yet this tool does most of the work for me. The harder I turn -- the harder it grips! This great item sells for approximately $20 All of the above great finds can be purchased through Brookstone. Visit their website or call them at: 800 - 926 - 7000
