: Help! We gave each other loads of software for Christmas and after installing everything, we are stuck with mountains of boxes with all the "stuff" inside. What do you do with the documentation, CD's, and diskettes? They all seem to require different sized containers, envelopes, or organizers, so keeping things together seems out of the question. Is there a solution that I'm too blind to see???

Dear Barbara, I have the same problem with storing software. I have been brainstorming and am going to try a few of the following ideas. Maybe something will work for you.
In a file cabinet: Using an enclosed folder (only the top is open), put all the software paper work, protected disk, etc. inside and either label the folder as to the software contents or cut a picture from the box or even a magazine that sells software.
(I like to use pictures as I have children's software to store as well and if they can get to their software quickly, mine may survive yet another day.) I have access to several file drawers so I plan to designate one of the drawers for children's software and one for my husband's and one for myself. Also, store a file folder containing a master list of the software folders or use a small file box for 3 x 5 index cards which lists the software packets contents and where the software folder is located.
I like using a 3 x 5 file box as I can update it with a card as new software is obtained without having to redo the master list constantly.
This would also allow for a "barrows" section to keep track of any software that might be loaned to someone else.
Hanging files could be used to categorize the software files as to type (eg. Clip art, similar info bases, etc.)
A portable file box could be used as well especially if the software folders have to be taken to work etc.
Anyway, just some thoughts.
Let me know how it goes,

Carrie
