Another bag I like is the Lands' End Original Attache. The Original, which is heavy canvas, is a little casual for some environments but fine for libraries and academia (my 2 work settings); LE also stocks a dressier leather-trimmed model and sometimes an all-leather version. Very sturdy, one big interior and one exterior pocket, 3 pockets and lots of pen pockets, plus a keyring on a longish tether, and as it zips around three sides you can open it up and make a traveling desk out of it.
