Aloha Ralphene!
Good to hear from you again!!
Nice job Ralphene -- looks like you found a system that is working for *you* ! As with all good systems there is an investment of initial time in the setup & processes. Yet, the same investment of time can SAVE time in the future ...not to mention the stress involved in searching for a document "you KNOW is in there somewhere."
I just have one comment regarding your great post. Personally, I *never* use the word "Misc" in setting up anything w/a client. Actually, I work w/my clients to eliminate the word totally.
Misc. is basically "lack of making a decision", so we avoid it at all costs.
No misc. desk drawers, kitchen drawers or files. I think you can see where this is going :)
If we start with the word when there is a minute amount of items or papers it can grow into a hefty beast in time :) Just another tidbit of my personal thoughts -- I normally allow a minimum of *6* papers in this type of file. Once the entire file system is setup -- we go back to the "odd group" of papers & find a match if it has less than 6 papers in it. My clients usually see the "potential marriage" of what iot can merge with immediately -- the key is to save the "odd" ones separately in the beginning & once the *entire* system is place -- review these select few one last time. :)
Mahalo for sharing a great system & how you worked thru it Ralphene!!
Much Aloha,
