We currently have a Visioneer Paperport Scanner and own their scannersuite software but have not yet been successful in implementing it. I, like you, am not looking to go "paperless", but would like to store quantities of resource material and inactive records as scanned images. We require complete accuracy, however, when retreiving these images and converting them back to hard copies as needed.
I would welcome your experience with the Paperport, or HP flatbed scanners. Specifically, which OCR software have you found to be most accurate for a combination of text and graphic images. Also, do you utilize the Paper Tiger locator system for images you have scanned into either writeable CDs, ZIPs, or hard drives...or do you rely solely on the OCR vendors software filing system to locate your scanned images?
