With a family of five children, we use a fairly large teal colored can with a lid that uses a 45 gallon garbage bag, (I dont think the can is actually that big, the bag just gives extra space to tie it off), and it usually gets emptied once/day. We also have a compactor for cereal boxes, mild cartons, etc.
Do you know the size of the rubbermaid cans? I'm wondering if I already am using their big one in the kitchen...We also have a VERY LARGE rubbermaid container that the city provides with an attached lid, we can get extra ones, but they charge an extra 12.00/month per can, maybe it would be worth it.
If we got that extra can, we could load the cans into the truck up to the corner, a mile or so away and the city will pick it up, and we have to make sure the cans get back to our house at the end of the day. Hmmmmm.....now if I can just talk hubby and sons into some cooperation, since they are so heavy.
Well it's got me brainstorming anyway. Thanks, I love this place. Chris
: Chris I would *highly* recommend investing in some Rubbermaid garbage containers. These are the most durable around & have the best seal!! This way you will eliminate inquisitive an imals, leaky bags when you are ready to go to the dump & mostly the odors! Not to mention it will look much neater too :)
