Aloha Michele,

Hmmm, hundreds of tapes ehhh???? Actually I know exactly what you are talking about -- I have about 400 myself (I love my music!!) Actually, I have a huge teak wallunit that has 2 drawers. I have all of my tapes in one drawer (double rows) & all of our videos in another (hubby subscribes to Handyman!) I find that if the tapes are organized by musician I have no trouble locating the one I want. Another method is the "stackable" systems. Stay away from small organizers that take up too much space -- you need to think verticaly instead of just horizontally.

You can also look for a piece of furnitire to suit this need that contains several drawers. Keeps the tapes clean & organized. I listen to non-lyrical music ...as with any music we all have our favorites -- so these are group in an area more easily accessible for constant use.

While we are on the subject of storing tapes...let me mention the CD gamut as well....think vertical instead of horizontal here too. "Spinners" are great ...look for one you can add onto in the future. I have one that stores 250 CD's & another smaller piece that sits on top for 100 more. I prefer wood so it blends in w/my furniture setting. In the case of music if you are a collector -- purchase more space than what you originally need so you don't end up w/5 different pieces all serving the function.

Hope this helps!

Much Aloha,
