Aloha Rich,

Hmmm, I am a tad confused here.... if the drawer only opens 1/2 way now -- it sounds like it has nothing to do w/the tracks. So I question replacing them.

What I would suggest is to change the way you use the drawer (if I am hearing all this correctly). Have you thought of investing in another file cabinet to keep the "not so frequently used files"? The reason I mention this is because the average person refers to 20% of their files 80% of the time. With this in mind -- maybe all you need is 1/2 the current drawer anyway??? The way I normally setup an office is -- the file drawer attached to the desk is a "project drawer" It usually contains all the files that my client refers to on a regular basis. Once the project is completed any files they still may need are moved to the appropriate file drawer in another cabinet. So the "Project drawer' will always be the papers in motion at a given time.

You may find with this approach that you currently have all the space you need in the desk drawer. Also remember to "purge" the files on a regular basis & eliminate what you no longer need. I have reclaimed more space than my clients ever dreamed possible by assisting them in making a decision on "what they need" vs "what they thought they needed"

Let me know if this sounds like a plan???

Rich, if you do decide to go for a new file cabinet -- remember -- you get what you pay for. The Costco/Kmart versions will not withstand the test of time (or weight)!

Good luck ... & keep us posted!

Much Aloha,
