: I have a 5 year old and I need help. I have 5 years of photos and negatives and they are a mess!
: Help: In the midst of raising 5 children, photo's became a real challenge. I had to start by creating a "drop" box for each child, so that as awards, photo's,memory items, etc., came along I had a temporary file. I then took one child's file and sorted it into year by year as best I could, put them into ziploc bags and put them back in that temporary file.( Be thankful if you've moved alot, it helps in picture sorting later, because you identify what year the pictures are by where you lived!!! ie carpet color, landscape, etc.) I then took a deep breath and invested in large three ring leather photo albums that I could put either photo's or scrapbook stuff in. I've done the magnetic albums, the rod albums where you keep adding posts, and they dont work. The three ring is best if you ever plan to have your children look at them comfortably. They lie flatter and are more flexible. Then I sorted each year into events, holidays, etc. and any picture that I needed duplicates for another child, I took to a copier and made color copies. Each little "baggie" now, becomes an event and I make a page for each baggie. I try to do one per week, or month :) I know everything isn't done and it will take a while but I feel better knowing that it's SORTED and that was the hard part, the creative part is now my reward. If you aren't creative, you might get a hold of a dealer who does scrapbooking like DOTS, etc. or many stores, now carry scrapbooking pages to make it easier. If you'd like to e-mail me I would be happy to talk to you more about negatives, and other things. Goodluck!!!
