Thank you for the encouraging comments. I have taken some time to mentally take each room apart and type up a list of what needs to be done that I can do without help from my husband. The list is four pages long, but breaking each room up into smaller tasks that I can do in segments and then cross them off, has given me a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.
Right now I'm using your section on cleaning off your desk and trying to get that mess in order.
Thanks again, Guyla

: <<< When we pulled up the old carpet to install new, we found water damage in front of every door and sliding glass door. Now, every room in this house is under some sort of reconstruction, some more severe than others. My problem is trying to keep the house clean and organized when I don't have anyplace to put anything.

: Ok. It sounds like you need to focus your energy on one room at a time from here on in. Pulling up the old carpet all over sounds like it needed to be done. Now just pick the room that bothers you the most & finish it.

: During reconstruction there is bound to be chaos -- this is normal -- so be gentle with yourself - it goes with the territory unfortunately.

: <<: Can the boxes be placed in a garage, porch temporarily? Or take a portion of a room & pile them horizontally instead of leaving them laying around vertically. Make sure you place the boxes on top of things you *may need soon*. Your sure to can some floor space in this manner.

: <<: OK ...now I get the picture :) Understand that the kids do come first & this remodeling is only a temporary thing. Like I said earlier take ONE room & focus on it. Do everything you need to do to get THAT room completed. You NEED a safe & peaceful space to find solace in.

: Talk to hubby...tell him your dilemma ...ask him if he has any ideas ...then say NOTHING!! The quiet space may feel uncomfortable ..yet he may need the space to hear what you are saying in order to support a *small* need you have during this taxing time of remodeling.

: <<: One room at a time.........if you are limited in funds at this time then I say set the rom up the best you can in the interim. If some of those boxes you mentioned earlier belong in a room that you are not ready to deal with ..set the room up. Remember, it’s not going to be perfect -- yet it will be livable...& you’ll have more order in the home to reduce that overwhelmed feeling yo have now :)

: <<: Take time for yourself each day FIRST!!! You sound very stressed & need to have a time & space for yourself. Find somewhere in the home ...maybe start the day w/a relaxing bath ...journaling....a quiet walk.

: Get up before the kids & hubby otherwise you won’t see the quiet space needed for you to start your day more grounded.

: The other thing I find helpful is Oprahs gratitude journal idea. Be grateful you have a home .,,.even amidst the chaos of remodeling. There are many who would LOVE to trade places w/you.

: Let me share an entry w/you that I had today: “ I am grateful I have toilet paper” Without going into a long story -- yesterday I found myself w/someone who is financially struggling, yet has a WONDERFUL attitude & very gifted. While I was there they offered me lunch only to realize they had no bread. I needed to use the bathroom & they had no toilet paper ...I went out to my truck & brought in a box of tissues.

: Please understand I felt VERY blessed yesterday -- they GAVE me FAR much more than I could have given them in providing organizational assistance ...they reminded me to not take ANYTHING for granted...NOTHING... & to continue to find gratitude in all that I have been blessed with .... I drove home that night ...followed by another glorious sunset ...I arrived home to find an exquisite rainbow in a nearby field ....

:
: Hope this helps somehow :)
