getting home office organized

hi, i'm helping my boyfriend get his home office organized. He doesn't really have a system in place and I was wondering what would be the best method to getting his bookkeeping, tax, and other paperwork organized. I have gotten some great ideas from your site, but wanted a more detailed answer. Any help you can give would be great.
