Aloha Catherine....

<<< Every corner of my life is cluttered! I agree with "over whelmed"...I just can't seem to find a starting point.

Actually Catherine ...my response to *overwhelmed* would work for you too! Start with the ****one**** area that bugs you the most. You don't have to complete it all in one day if it is too much -- the key is to work at it in *chewable chunks* & as you see progress happening it will fire up the motivation in you to continue :)

You need to keep in mind that it *will* require regular maintenance -- nothing stays organized automatically on it's own just because we did it once. What DOES happen is the tidying up part takes only minutes if we don't let it get out of control & pick up after ourselves daily.

<<< EVERYTHING needs done and I jump from area to area & nothing gets finished.

Like I said earlier the secret is to stick w/the area that you are annoyed with ...orgaize that space & then move onto tackiling the next. I also recommend the *Sacred Space* approach. This means that until all areas are organized ....everything won't have a home -yet. Sooooo, the areas you have completed become *sacred spaces* & you are not allowed to dump in thoise areas again. As you progress & more & more items find a home...your dumping space is smaller ...because your *sacred space* is larger!

<<< How do I let go of my "stuff"?

Catherine, there is a whole section on the questions you need to ask yourself. This can be found at:
http://www.123sortit.com/RO/papermanagement.html

Although the section pertains to paper...you will find that the QUESTIONS can pertain to almost any type of clutter or *stuff* you are holding onto :)

Remember, your goal is to achieve the status of P.R.O. here.....Persistence, Resilience & Optimism are essential to focus on.....keep on keeping on.....if you slip -- start again -- no problem! & keep a positive attitude throughout your project. Focus on the ultimate goal ...& do not kick yourself along the way :)

Oprah has a great quote...."You did what you knew how to do ...& when you knew better...you did better" When you come to grips w/the *why* you have been holding onto stuff & you learn from this website the *what & how* to deal w/it...you WILL do better!

What I want you to do now is post right here on this BBS WHERE you are going to start ....& give us a progress report on a regular basis - Deal? Deal!!

Good luck & keep P.R.O in mind to reach success in each & every project !

Much Aloha,
