What you need to do is look at the bathroom vertically as well as horizontally. :) Companies like: Hold Everything; Pottery Barn; Pottery Barn for Kids; The Container Store; Get Organized; & IKEA are some good places to start. To create more storage space in the bathroom -- take a peek at the wide selection of bathroom etagere units. These units are placed directly over the toilet tank & contain shelves as well as cabinets. To keep the shower uncluttered -- make sure you implement a bath caddy of sorts. These are placed either in the corner of the tub or directly over the shower head. They can contain anywhere between 2-5 shelves for all shampoo, cream rinse, soap, loofas etc... As far as a hamper is concerned, think "multiple use." Look for a "tilt-out hamper" that can double w/shelf space. They are pretty compact & can also contain clean towels on one of the 2 top shelves or toiletries. Seeing as you are tight on space -- I would have the bathroom hamper only be used for the families towels. Provide family members w/their own hampers in the bedroom for the remainer of their clothes. There are some nice compact ones that can easily fit in the closet (Hold Everything). As far as maximizing your space in the vanity -- check out double shelves or stackable containers w/front openings. You can even allocate a stackable container or 2 per family member! Hope something here helps! Just remember to "look up" for additional space & to only purchase items that have a dual capacity! I personally have a guest bathroom that only has a "clear floor space" of 3.5 x 5.5 ! It is now a very *charming* little area. Keeping it clutter free helps. Happy Organizing! Much Aloha, Julie Signore -
