Sounds like you have the motivation, but with three children you don't have the time. I can't remember when I had everything clean and in order, and there are stacks of papers everywhere. Like you, I haven't had company in years because the house is such a mess. BUT... I try to keep the living room and kitchen neat and clean just in case someone drops in unexpectedly. Keeping two rooms (rather than the whole house) clean and straight is more managable for me.
