When to say enough?

I have been working on decluttering and organizing my home, but I'm finding it very difficult to let go of papers. I have a wide variety of papers, from cards, letters, sermon notes, recipes, school papers, craft patterns to organizing and decorating articles, etc. I've been in the secretarial field since the early 70s and the proverbial "don't throw anything out because you will need it the next day" has been so ingrained in me. I was also raised that way because my mom was also a secretary. I try to file the articles I save either in binders or file folders; but more often than not, I never use them or the articles stay in piles. I am also running out of storage room. I don't think I've ever thrown out a magazine without first tearing something out of it. How does a messie come to the point to say enough is enough when there is so much interesting information and "personal history" around? Any advice you may have will be greatly appreciated!!
