Aloha....

First of all your filing doesn't sound too bad off if it takes approx. 30 min. a week to complete. In many cases I recommend to clients that they schedule their filing in a home office either 1x, 3x or 5x a week depending on the individuals paper flow. Most people hate filing so much that they rather like sceduling 30-60 min. per week to complete the task. The trick is ...to pick the same day...same time each week. This way it is sure to be completed.

What you might want to think about is a better *staging* area. Piling the papaers on top the cabinet could be annoying as you mentioned. I designed a "basket system" for :
TO DO
TO READ
TO FILE
TODAY

The baskets are made by Fellowes (they are located in the Library Archive Hot Picks for '97 or '98) The full detail of this system is also in the "desk organizing recipe" in the Registered members area for a nominal $8 fee .)

Now as far as the clothes basket is concerned THAT sounds like an area you need to focus on. I have gone to great lengths giving several types on how to handle this in the Residential /Laundry section. Refer there for many MORE details!
In the meantime....see if you can take the 10 minutes necessary to ATTACK those loads as they come out. It's not so much time when you address them that way -- yet it can be overwhelming after 5 loads pile up.

Just keep telling yourself "10 minutes & I am DONE!!" Get into a positive habit now ...as when the baby arrives it will be more challenging.

Hope to hear of your progress after you check out the Laundry section!!

Much Aloha,
